November 20, 2018

PGC holds an AS9100D Certification, ISO 9001:2015 Certification and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations Registration (ITAR).  Following these regulations has educated PGC in several areas and greatly benefits our customers.

What is ISO 9001:2015 Certification?

ISO 9001:2015 is the international standard for quality management systems (QMS).  Businesses of any size and industry can apply these standards to how they manage their processes.  There are several pillars that make up what the ISO 9001 standards are.  They include a strong customer focus, continuous improvement, and top management commitment.  Maintaining these standards help us consistently meet our customers’ requirements.

What is AS9100D Certification?

AS9100D is focused on risk-based thinking.  The function of this certification is to build upon the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system (QMS), as well as, incorporate additional requirements for aviation, defense and aerospace. Examples of additional regulations when it comes to purchasing products is a heightened review and monitoring of external providers, as well as increased focus on configuration management. These additional regulations aid in reducing variation in our processes and driving improvement activities.

What does it mean to be registered for the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)?

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) registration are the rules set forth by the Department of State.  The ITAR regulations define the controls on specific information and products relating to defense items. The ITAR covers items such as ammunition and explosives, assault weapons, and missile technology. Due to the sensitivity of these items, ITAR regulates what information and products can be exported to non-US persons. PGC maintains specific export control processes to fully comply with customer and regulatory requirements which includes physical and electronic security controls.

What does that mean for customers?

PGC holds itself to the highest industry standards and builds trust within the supply chain.  PGC communicates to our customers that a strong business management system is in place that is customer centric, and every action is intentional when meeting their expectations.

Following the requirements from these certifications helped PGC to develop some of our own standards, which helps us to better align ourselves with metrics that satisfy our customers.
