Material utilization has become an initiative for PGC as we are a People, Planet, Profit organization.  We want to do all we can for the environment, our employees and our customers by being as earth conscious as possible.  Recently, PGC fabricated a part for a customer that requires 80,000 sq. ft. of material.  This material is a polyethylene foam which can be used in a number of applications such as filters or liners in a number of markets.  The part that we make is a large circle so only about 15,000 sq. ft. of the material is actually used and the other 65,000 sq. ft.  needed to be discarded and ultimately thrown into a landfill.

Given our green initiative, PGC has partnered with a company that has agreed to take the discarded material and recycle it into things like carpet padding or other insulators.  With this change in process, PGC has been able to save approximately six – thirty yard dumpsters of a non-biodegradable material entering a landfill.
